simmering potpourri in the fall...

This is my favorite potpourri recipe that was given to me from an old friend in Flossmoor, Illinois. Peggy would simmer this mixture on her stove; I went on to make it in one of the small, simmering pots you can buy at Target. I truly enjoy this aroma as soon as I notice and feel fall is approaching and it continues to infuse my home until well into January.

In a small simmering pot or crock pot that has been filled with hot water, add:
one orange slice,
a finger-full of cloves and
two cinnamon sticks.

Allow to simmer all day, adding more hot water as needed, and enjoy the aroma of fall, winter, clean air, cold nights, and being with the ones you love most.
