happy monday...

I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. I...
  • went to Lake Geneva and had lunch with my mom and dad.  Both look wonderful and are amazing as they are sharp and mobile and needless to say, very, very chatty and a bit loud.
  • did a ton of errands on Friday before doing a light cleaning and eventually falling asleep before dinner. I never did eat!
  • spent Saturday morning alone as Brian went to Grand Rapids to watch our rugby guys.  I browned our lamb shanks and made the red sauce and honestly, it tasted amazing. By the afternoon, the potatoes were ready to be mashed, a cake ready to be frosted and peas ready to be sauteed in oil and rosemary.
  • made another trip to Geneva Commons and found Charming Charlie. Nothing is terribly expensive and it is all about buying a new shirt and every possible accessory you might need to emphasize it...earrings, bracelets, purses, shoes, scarfs, rings and necklaces...for that special night.  The store is organized by colors, which is so fun, so you just head to your "preferred color of the day' and start to look.
  • also went to The Gap to buy another pair of skinny straight leg jeans in a size smaller than I bought a few days ago.  Well, I could barely get the 28 regulars past my hips and when I did, the waist looked, well, indescribable.  I guess the 29 was the right size although they do get baggy after a few hours.
  • woke up Sunday to get my lamb and sauce to room temperature before putting it in a roomy roster to sloooow cook for 3 plus hours!
  • lost my phone for a whole day only to have Nick call Brian and say that Jane across the street had it!  My Nick so knows what it is like to lose a phone.
  • enjoyed a wonderful Easter afternoon with our kids but all of us missed Jenny.  Matt arrived around 1 and by that time, the lamb had been in the oven for 3 hours, the potatoes were mashed, the cake frosted and all that I needed to do was saute peas.  Sarah and Chris came at 2 bearing small gifts for Brian and I and two amazing appetizers; a thinly sliced pear topped with panchetta and goat cheese (I think!!!) and french bread spread with herb rolled goat cheese and finished off with a sun dried tomato.  As we were so prepared, we all sat around and talked about projects and jobs and retirement and Nick and some stories were shared about his 72 hours of spring break drinking binge.  We ate around 3:30 and all helped clear the table and serve dessert and bring out the Sunday trash.  Our house was cleaned and I was on the sofa with Brian by around 6.  A perfect end to my Spring Break!
Have a great first week of April!
