a tragedy in our country...

heartbreaking, on so many levels.
I am incredibly sad for all of the Connecticut families and for the staff at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. A horrible event took place in our country today and I felt like I did on 9-11. My heart is heavy, my eyes stream tears and Brian, Nick and I actually stood around our table watching the television in silence.
As a member of the teaching profession, all need to know that we do care about the ones you send to us daily and we are privileged to be a part of their lives for a year.  We truly want your children to grow socially, emotionally and academically yearly. We worry about them and you and think of them in the late hours of the night. When they are sad,  we ask them why; when they are happy, we ask them why; when they are confused, we ask them why and when they are on top of the world, we ask them why. We work to connect with them to establish a relationship so we can teach them to think and problem solve and work hard and be kind, thoughtful and empathetic so they can succeed in our world. We work daily to protect them from mean kids and mean adults and situations that cause them sadness and from danger.  We know your children are the most important people in your lives and that you love them with all of your heart.   That never leaves our minds.
I am incredibly sad for all in Connecticut and my heart goes out to all in that community.  This day will never be forgotten.  12/14/12
