I was thinking about the way Brian is with our boys now that they are older and when looking for the "one word" that would sum up his relationship with both;  I would say it would be " protective".  He is loving and loyal and caring and supportive to Matt and Nick; but most of all, I see him still protecting them. No matter what happens in their lives; Brian is there for them.  He does not judge his boys or their decisions;  he is there to process and problem solve with them. That is a really a wonderful quality to have as a father and he is a good one.
My heart gets big when I see this picture of Nick, Brian and Matt last weekend; without me (A good thing!).  They enjoyed each other, their conversations, sports, food, friends and a time that can never be duplicated. Very special!
