I would say that Nick is one of the luckiest 21 year olds around. Matt organized a party for him to celebrate his 21st birthday. Nick and his best friend, Chris, drove into the city after Nick traveled for 10 hours to get home on Saturday. The boys headed to Matt's and then a club where Nick was with both old and new friends (Ralph, Brandon, Brandon's girl friend, Liz, the "H..." sisters and others!) at a table that Matt had reserved for bottle service. Who would, in fact, be at the only other table upstairs? Patrick Kane from the Blackhawks! As the story goes, Ralph noticed a guy who he thought looked like Kane and who Matt said was Kane. Matt went over to him and asked if he could make his younger brother's year, who was celebrating his 21st birthday, by saying something to him. Patrick went to the dance floor where Nick was, tapped him on the shoulder to only have Nick turn around and be greeted by him. I guess Nick was shocked and said something to the fact, "Kaner, you are my favorite! You are my "go to" player when I play my NHL X-Box game." Matt said Nick had this huge smile on his face and looked shocked. Later in the evening, Nick asked P.K. if he could take a picture with him and his brother, and he did so immediately. (Very nice!) After a few more happenings and drinks, the night ended at 5 a.m. with Matt calling to report all were on their way home. (He text me, called Brian, Sarah and Chris and Matt does not usually "drink and dial"!) What an evening for Nick! The only thing missing was Sarah, who was home sick! The moment Nick came home he asked me if Sarah was really sick or did she not want to come. Not the case, but sweet to know that he truly missed her and wasn't that an incredible birthday for Nick?
