dinner for two....

Brian and I have dinner together every night, the same way we did when all of our children were home.  I set the table with our dishes and silverware and glasses.  We use our Spode china most days, but now that the holidays are upon us, our Christmas dishes being used.  I light the candles, the fireplace is glowing in the background and our tree is lit before, during and after dining.  We eat together, talk together and clean up together (Well, Brian tends to clean up more than me as I do all of the cooking!).  Dinner time has always been an important part of our lives and even now, when Nick or Sarah or Matt come home and stay to eat, they all know what to expect...everyone setting the table, helping to prepare food, talking, and a group later working together to clean up, all except me!  (I do tend to have my own set of rules!).  I have always believed dinners unite a family and that is a tradition I will never stop.
