unstuffed cabbage rolls...

I love comfort food, don't you? There is no better meal than one that was prepared slowly, over low heat and as you let it simmer longer and longer on the stove, your home begins to smell like wonderness. Can you relate to this?
Yesterday, I made One Pot Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls via family FRESH MEALS in two steps and it was both easy and delicious.
Here's what I did:
I cooked the meat, added the spices, covered the pot and let it sit. Then, I mixed together the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce in a bowl, opened the beef broth, diced the cabbage and made some Jasmine Rice. When we were ready to eat, I heated the meat in the broth, then added all the rest of the ingredients and let the dish simmer and simmer until our apartment was filled with the most amazing smell that I could not even stand it.

What was the outcome: Both Brian and I enjoyed each and every bit.

For my working peeps, here is my suggestion on how to make your life easier.
(SPOILER ALERT: I'm going to be incorating in my Blog time saving tips when cooking and cleaning as well as ways to help you organize your life. Why?  So your life is simpler and you have more time for what is important!)
(More on this quest later!)

On your meal prep day,
  • brown the meat with the onions and garlic, add the spices and put the mixture in a ziplock baggie.
  • dice the cabbage and put it in a ziplock baggie.
  • make the rice and put it in a sealed container.
On the morning of your cooking day,
  • put your pot on your stove.
  • take out the rice, cabbage, and canned ingredients.
As soon as you get home, dump the meat mixture in the pot, follow the recipe and VOILA! You are done!

Until tomorrow...
